Food Pantries

Munster Church (CRC)

MUNSTER CHURCH (CRC) is one of two churches that host a Love INC Food Pantry. Al Gadberry and other church members work hard to help local families with food assistance. Their inventory includes non-perishable, frozen and perishable foods. Munster Church distributes food on the third Wednesday of the month.

Faith Church Munster (RCA)

FAITH CHURCH MUNSTER (RCA) hosts Faith Munster Family Market's "Bread of Life" outreach program for those referred by Love INC of Greater Hammond. A well-balanced food pantry (including perishable items) is maintained by Faith Church volunteers. Faith cares about those who come to this ministry and prays for them. Faith Church normally distributes food to those referred by Love INC on the third Thursday of the month.

Our two food pantries cooperate with each other. They coordinate so that at either site Love INC clients receive the same level of care and attention. At each site pantry volunteers pray for clients share the gospel and seek to build relationships we often times feel blessed by our clients

The helping process begins when people call the Love INC Clearinghouse and completing an Intake over the telephone with a trained Love INC volunteer. The Love INC phone number is 219-923-2775. Clients are referred by Love INC to each church. Members of the food pantry volunteers pack groceries after clients have called the church office to make an appointment and/or arrangements to get their food. Prayer and words of encouragement are a priority with Love INC church volunteers as they meet with clients and get to know them.

What to donate to our food pantries? Here are some ways!

"When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Do not go over your vineyard a second time or pick up the grapes that have fallen. Leave them for the poor and the alien. I am the Lord your God."

- Leviticus 19:9-10
